Job Summary

Tulip Recruitment is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Payroll Trainee to join our team. As a Payroll Trainee, you will be responsible for assisting in the preparation and management of the pensioner payroll process for clients' payrolls in line with procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Payroll Processing: Assist in all aspects of a portfolio of clients' payrolls and process their monthly payroll from start to finish.
  • Payroll Changes: Ensure payroll changes are recorded correctly on the work management system and processed according to agreed procedures and timescales.
  • Reconciliation: Reconcile payroll costs and charges against the pensions administration database ensuring PAYE deductions are made and paid within statutory deadlines.
  • Annual P60s: Produce and distribute annual P60s.
  • Timely Payments: Ensure payments to pensioners, HMRC, and other third-party bodies are made on a timely basis and with agreed controls.
  • Customer Service: Answer telephone and written queries from pensioners, colleagues, partners, and clients in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with agreed payroll deadlines and ensure that team planners and the payroll calendar is up to date.
  • Team Support: Support other team members as needed.
  • System Maintenance: Maintain payroll and ancillary systems.
  • Payroll Advice: Advise and assist our pensions administration teams on any payroll matters.
  • Payslips: Issue payslips to pensioners within agreed timescales, ensuring they are sent to the confirmed and up-to-date address.
Requirements
  • Education: Educated to 'A' level, degree level, or equivalent with GCSEs at grades 4 to 9 (A* to C) including maths.
  • Previous Experience: Previous office experience would be very useful.
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of Microsoft Windows 10 and related Office packages.
  • Soft Skills: Accuracy and excellent attention to detail, strong maths skills with an ability to spot numerical errors, good communication skills, excellent organisational and time management skills, and the ability to work on your own initiative and be a team player.
