About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our Engineering team at TEC Partners - Technical Recruitment Specialists. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in the development of a commercial, integrated diagnostic device and contribute to the research of novel technological solutions to challenging problems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage own engineering development projects autonomously and independently, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results.
  • Support the migration of 3rd party CAD data into our company's Product Data Management (PDM) system, adhering to ISO13485 standards and best practices.
  • Develop and apply innovative design methodologies to solve complex problems, leveraging sound engineering fundamentals and expertise.
  • Conceptualize, design, and test prototype components, systems, and processes to meet product requirements, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Produce detailed Computer-Aided Design (CAD) models of mechanical parts, assemblies, and output Bill of Materials (BOMs) and manufacturing drawings, adhering to Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) standards BS8888.
  • Design, plan, and conduct laboratory experiments to understand and optimize parameters for cartridge-based biochemistry test platforms, ensuring data accuracy and reliability.
  • Compile, analyze, and interpret experimental results and data within an ISO13485 environment, providing actionable insights and recommendations.
  • Record, document, and present summarized results to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and effective collaboration.
  • Provide technical advice on the integration of science and engineering-related aspects of the Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) platform, leveraging expertise and knowledge.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, contributing to the growth and success of our company.

Requirements

  • Higher degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent employment experience, with knowledge of mechanical, fluidics, and electronics fundamentals applied to the Medical or Life Science sector.
  • Knowledge and experience of manufacturing techniques such as die casting, injection molding, and diffusion bonding.
  • Experience with 3D CAD design (SolidWorks) and proficiency in utilizing knowledge of microfluidics, pneumatics, fluid control, temperature control, and sensor integration to inform the design of components.
  • Ability to translate CAD data for rapid prototyping technologies and practical hands-on prototyping experience using CNC milling, 3D printing, laser cutting, plastic diffusion bonding, and plastic film lamination.
  • Experience completing technical Quality Control (QC) documentation and working in an ISO13485 regulated environment.
  • Proven ability to analyze and communicate experimental results clearly to internal and external stakeholders.
