Early Years Group Leader

Barracudas Activity Day Camps is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Early Years Group Leader to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality childcare and educational experiences to children aged 4-11 years old.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement the Early Years Foundation Stages to ensure a safe and engaging environment for children.
  • Set up and maintain a suitable base room area, ensuring it is tidy and equipment is packed away.
  • Follow policies and procedures to ensure children's safety and well-being.
  • Deliver activity sessions as per the prepared timetable, working with other staff members to ensure a variety of activities.
  • Be the children's Key Worker, managing information exchange and ensuring their needs are met.
  • Provide active supervision and attention throughout the day, including breaks and lunchtimes.
  • Plan and deliver activities with structure and enthusiasm, incorporating children's interests and abilities.
  • Encourage maximum participation while following OFSTED guidelines.
  • Take responsibility for general welfare and safeguarding, ensuring the safe use of equipment.
  • Facilitate children's development through Explore and Play sessions.
Requirements:
  • Working towards or holding a relevant childcare qualification.
  • Knowledge and experience within the Early Years Foundation Stage.
  • Aged 18 or over by the start date of your contract.
  • Eligible to work in the UK.
  • Provide satisfactory professional/academic references.
  • Enthusiastic, caring, and organised with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt to unpredictable challenges within a childcare setting.
  • Enhanced DBS check through Barracudas or existing enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
  • Attend a Virtual Assessment Event if new to Barracudas.
  • Complete Online Training annually.
  • Attend Induction Training Day.
  • Assist with pack up at the end of camp.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the company fulfils all Health and Safety obligations.
  • Organise and deliver activities appropriate for children in your care.
  • Encourage children to participate in new activities and follow the activity programme.
  • Ensure children under your supervision behave safely and respect their individuality.
  • Follow camp systems, including registration and collection procedures, Health and Safety systems, and guidelines on good practice in child welfare.
  • Be a positive role model, promoting a healthy lifestyle and good hygiene precautions.
  • Report any concerns regarding Child Protection to Senior Team or a Designated Person.
  • Make reasonable adjustments to accommodate children with additional needs or medical conditions.
  • Pending staff availability, deliver Skills Builder sessions.
  • Support swimming sessions, bringing swimwear and a spare t-shirt.
