The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Propulsion Systems Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of our air-breathing ion propulsion system. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for testing and optimizing the plasma propulsion system within our vacuum facilities.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and implementing test plans for the ion propulsion system
  • Collaborating with our mechanical, electrical, and control engineers to ensure seamless system integration
  • Operating vacuum facilities and performing electric propulsion tests
  • Analyzing test data and providing recommendations for system improvements
  • Preparing reports and effectively communicating results to the team
  • Staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in plasma physics and propulsion systems

You will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of projects, from testing and optimizing the ion propulsion system to developing new designs and technologies. Our team is passionate about space technology and is committed to delivering high-quality results.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Strong knowledge of spacecraft Electric propulsion systems, including RF Thrusters, Hall Effect Thrusters, Gridded Ion Propulsion, and other types
  • Previous practical experience in electric propulsion testing, including RF generators, high voltage power supplies, and thrust balance
  • Experience working with vacuum systems, power supplies, fluidic management systems, and data acquisition systems
  • Good technical understanding of plasma physics, modeling, and diagnostics, ionization processes, and basic electrical engineering
  • Skills in CAD modeling, electronics, and laboratory automation software
  • Experience in the aerospace industry is preferred
