Embedded Software Engineer Opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of air-breathing electric propulsion technology at NewOrbit Space, a rapidly growing space startup company.

About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and creative embedded software engineer to join our electronics team in the development of our flagship satellite to ultra-low Earth Orbit (ULEO). The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of embedded systems design and development, hands-on experience with hardware and software integration, and excellent collaboration skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement software drivers based on device datasheets
  • Develop and manage the full software development lifecycle (SDLC) from initial concept through deployment and maintenance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-performance, reliable solutions for mission-critical aerospace applications
  • Test and verify software using unit testing frameworks and Test-Driven Design (TDD) principles
  • Manage project builds, dependencies, and cross-compilation for embedded targets using build systems like CMake
Requirements
  • Advanced degree (MEng, MSc, or PhD) in Electronics, Physics, Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in embedded software engineering, with a proven track record in the aerospace, defense, or related industries
  • Extensive experience with both digital and analog electronics, especially in the context of embedded systems
  • Strong hands-on experience with electronic build processes, including soldering, wiring, and using tools like oscilloscopes and multimeters
