About the Team
The Product Finance division is integral in assisting Next's product teams by delivering essential financial insights aimed at optimizing profitability. We are in search of a Commercial Finance Analyst who will engage in sales reporting and leverage data to oversee profitability, facilitating critical commercial decisions that enhance profit while maintaining customer satisfaction.
About the Role
Responsibilities include:
- Overseeing the forecasting and budgeting processes for the Retail Profit and Loss statement, from sales to net margin.
- Offering detailed commentary on variances against forecasts and previous fiscal periods.
- Managing weekly reports and analyses concerning the company's Gross Margin performance relative to targets, while aiding Product teams in understanding discrepancies and providing ad hoc analyses as necessary.
- Reporting on performance during Mid and End of season sales.
- Assisting in the creation of seasonal product group profitability reports for presentation to divisional directors.
- Managing cost oversight for Product teams at the Head Office, which encompasses budgeting, forecasting, monthly variance reviews, accruals, and prepayments, with the support of one direct report.
About You
- Prior experience in a comparable commercial finance position, ideally progressing towards a professional accounting qualification.
- Strong analytical capabilities with the proficiency to interpret extensive data sets in a comprehensible manner for non-financial stakeholders.
- Proven ability to cultivate robust relationships across various business sectors, demonstrating excellent influencing skills.
- Advanced analytical skills, particularly in utilizing Excel and other systems for data examination.
- Familiarity with SQL and Power BI is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Demonstrated capacity to perform under pressure while managing multiple priorities.
