Job Title:

Building Surveyor

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Building Surveyor to join our team at CV-Library. As a key member of our Facilities Management function, you will be responsible for leading and managing the team to meet the Council's Corporate Objectives and Service Plan.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Manage and supervise all staff and budgets allocated to the Small Works and Repairs Section.
  2. Formulate, implement, and update the Service Plan and contribute to the Corporate Plan, especially in relation to the maintenance of Council assets.
  3. Carry out staff development appraisals and set performance measures for members of the Section.
  4. Prepare estimates, budgets, and performance measures for the Section, including managing large budgets for repairs and improvements across the building stock.
  5. Ensure the efficient and effective operation of the Council's policies, procedures, and requirements in respect of the Section.
  6. Provide full small capital works and repair services for all premises within the Council's asset register.
  7. Ensure appropriate inspections are carried out of Council owned buildings for repair, reactive, and planned maintenance.
  8. Manage small capital works and building repairs and alterations, to public buildings, shops, and industrial premises.
  9. Oversee the maintenance/management of the car parks and street/footpath lighting and signage.
  10. Manage the Statutory Inspections regime for the Council's properties, including boilers, lifts, and specialist electrical installations.
  11. Liaise as necessary in the disconnection of services, sealing up, and demolition of properties.
  12. Prepare and maintain schedules, specifications, and programmes for painting and decoration of public buildings.
  13. Prepare Cabinet reports and attend Committee and other meetings as required.
  14. Identify areas of need for consultant appointment, prepare the brief, and oversee work and performance.
  15. Prepare basic design layouts and technical specifications for small works and repairs.
  16. Have a detailed understanding of the relevant legislation to ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building surveying, with experience in managing facilities and maintenance teams. You will have excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
