Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team at a SEN Primary/Secondary School in Wiltshire.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting young children with diverse needs, ensuring their safety, emotional well-being, and educational development. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will assist in delivering the curriculum both inside and outside the classroom under the guidance of the Head of Learning or a designated teacher.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supporting Students:
    • Engage with individual children or small groups to support their physical, emotional, educational, and social development.
    • Encourage independent learning through structured educational activities and programs.
    • Build nurturing relationships with students, promoting self-esteem, independence, and resilience.
    • Foster an inclusive environment for all students, regardless of their special needs.
  • Classroom Support:
    • Assist teachers in planning and delivering work programs tailored for young children.
    • Maintain an organized and supportive classroom environment.
    • Help ensure smooth transitions between different educational activities.
    • Monitor and report on student progress and achievements.
  • Additional Duties:
    • Participate in staff meetings and professional development sessions.
    • Supervise students during non-class times, including before and after school and during lunchtimes.
    • Assist on school trips and external activities.
    • Uphold the school's commitment to safeguarding and promoting student welfare.
Requirements:
  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification.
  • At least one year of experience as a Teaching Assistant or Classroom Assistant.
  • Knowledge of educational practices related to child welfare and education.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with children and adults and work effectively within a team.
