We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Support Specialist to join our team and make a positive impact on the lives of young people in care. This role involves providing comprehensive support and guidance to foster their independence and well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver personalized support and mentorship to young individuals residing independently, empowering them to navigate daily life effectively.
- Collaborate with young people to develop essential independent living skills, such as budgeting, time management, and household responsibilities.
- Encourage positive lifestyle choices by promoting social engagement, educational pursuits, and healthy habits.
- Maintain accurate records of progress and update care plans accordingly, ensuring a holistic approach to their development.
- Communicate effectively with social services and other professionals involved in the young people's care, fostering a collaborative environment.
- Contribute to service improvements by actively participating in planning, monitoring, and evaluation activities.
Qualifications and Skills
- Possess an NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care or a related field, or demonstrate a willingness to pursue this qualification.
- Have proven experience working with young people, ideally within a care setting, demonstrating a genuine understanding of their needs and challenges.
- Hold a valid driving license and access to a reliable vehicle for travel throughout the designated areas.
- Exhibit exceptional communication skills, including the ability to influence, persuade, and negotiate effectively with diverse individuals.
- Demonstrate strong relationship-building abilities, fostering trust and rapport with young people and colleagues alike.
- Maintain a calm and composed demeanor under pressure, prioritizing tasks efficiently and effectively.
