Position Overview:

We are seeking two dedicated Kitchen Porters to join our Catering & Retail Service department at the House of Lords. This role is ideal for individuals who uphold the highest standards of cleanliness and organization, adhering to current health and food hygiene regulations at all times.

Work Schedule:

This position offers the opportunity to work onsite at Parliament, with a Monday to Friday schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform thorough cleaning of assigned areas, including sweeping and mopping floors, ensuring all surfaces are hygienically maintained as directed by the Line Manager.
  • Clean heavy-duty cooking utensils, pots, and trays in pot wash sinks.
  • Polish tarnished silverware and cutlery to maintain a high standard of presentation.
  • Prepare the dishwasher for daily use by ensuring it is operational, stocked with necessary chemicals, and cleaned as instructed by the Head Porter. Report any faults or chemical needs to the Head Porter.
  • Ensure all dirty crockery and cutlery are promptly cleared from service lifts, washed in the appropriate dishwasher, and safely stacked or sent to the correct outlet as required by waiting staff.
  • Comply with all legislative requirements regarding food hygiene and workplace health and safety. Staff members should actively identify and report any hazards to the designated Health and Safety Coordinator.

Qualifications:

  • A basic Food Hygiene Certificate or equivalent is required, with knowledge of Health & Safety and Manual Handling being desirable.
