Position Overview

As the Chief Business Officer (CBO) for our UK Commercial sales divisions, you will be at the forefront of driving revenue and strategic expansion within the UK market. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, EMEA, and collaborating closely with the Global Chief Business Officer for Advertising Revenue, you will lead a team of industry heads and oversee the execution of innovative commercial strategies tailored for the UK landscape. Your role will involve leveraging insights and digital acumen to foster cross-platform revenue growth through consumer behavior analysis, trend identification, and competitive landscape understanding.

This position requires you to develop targeted marketing initiatives, optimize product offerings, and implement sales strategies that enhance engagement and revenue. Success in this role hinges on your ability to swiftly adapt to evolving market dynamics while maintaining a competitive advantage and ensuring sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Collaborate with senior leadership, including the Managing Director, EMEA, and the Global Chief Business Officer of Advertising Revenue, to effectively execute global strategies within the UK.
  2. Drive revenue enhancement by transforming existing sales strategies and introducing innovative approaches across all platforms, with a strong emphasis on digital.
  3. Lead a senior team of Heads of Industry, each responsible for key verticals such as Fashion, Beauty & Luxury, Travel, Home and BizFiTech, Media, Entertainment & Auto.
  4. Foster a unified and strategic sales approach among the senior leadership team to effectively increase revenue across verticals and within the market.
  5. Ensure that the Commercial sales teams maintain a strong focus on data analysis to establish team and individual KPIs.
  6. Elevate the broader commercial sales function, setting new standards for excellence and performance.
  7. Develop and nurture relationships with clients and agencies, while strengthening existing partnerships to enhance renewal rates and accelerate new business opportunities.
  8. Build collaborative relationships with Editorial and Creative teams to ensure content alignment and successful cross-platform program execution.
  9. Establish effective working relationships with global stakeholders.
  10. Collaborate with Editorial leadership to deliver profitable and world-class events, creating new opportunities across our brands while aligning with the brands' creative vision.
  11. Develop talent and cultivate a culture of collaboration, performance, respect, and excellence.
  12. Inspire teams to implement streamlined processes and improve efficiency to deliver innovative solutions for clients.
Essential Qualifications
  1. Demonstrated experience in leading a commercial sales function within the media sector.
  2. Extensive revenue generation experience with a proven track record of successfully transforming and driving revenue across multiple platforms in a global context.
  3. Experience in diversifying revenue streams and launching new products.
  4. Proven leadership skills with a commitment to people management and experience in building high-performing commercial teams across all platforms, particularly in digital.
  5. A creative and engaging leader who fosters an inclusive and empowering workplace.
  6. Experience in global collaboration to shape and implement commercial strategies within media and publishing.
  7. Exceptional communication skills with the ability to navigate a matrix structure and collaborate effectively with various stakeholders across markets and functions.
  8. Strong network within the media industry.
