Join Our Team as a Submarine Cable Engineer

We are excited to present an opportunity with Red - Specialist Recruitment for a dedicated Submarine Cable Engineer. This role is essential for the planning, design, manufacturing, and installation of submarine cables across global waters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee turnkey supply projects, focusing on cable route studies and marine survey phases within various project timelines.
  • Conduct office-based tasks related to all aspects of Cable Route Studies, including desktop studies and site assessments, while compiling databases and producing charts using advanced GIS software.
  • Utilize Makai Plan (on Geomedia GIS) for Cable Route Engineering to create Route Position Lists (RPLs) and Straight-Line Diagrams (SLDs) essential for cable production and installation.
  • Review and ensure quality control of Marine Survey Reports before they are delivered to clients.
  • Engage in offshore work and global travel as necessary for site visits, client meetings, and survey operations.
  • Collaborate with the Route Engineering team, guiding projects from initial feasibility assessments through to marine surveys and installation phases, while supporting the Marine and Project Management divisions.
  • Generate comprehensive Cable Route Study (CRS) reports, which include conducting Desk Top Study (DTS) research, site visits to potential cable landings, and assessing risks to the cable system.
  • Supervise the planning, mobilization, and operational activities of subcontracted hydrographic survey operations, ensuring the use of suitable vessels for various survey tasks.
  • Maintain communication with offshore teams to guarantee operational quality and to obtain survey data that is crucial for creating post-survey RPLs, which are vital for manufacturing processes.
  • Play a pivotal role within the Marine directorate, facilitating informed pre-manufacturing decisions regarding cable routing, design, and installation strategies.
