Job Description

Role Summary:

The Energy Carbon Coordinator will play a key role in defining, implementing, and delivering an effective energy and water usage monitoring and reduction plan. This will involve working closely with internal and external partners to ensure successful outcomes aligned to the University's Carbon Management Plan.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the development of the utility metering and monitoring system, ensuring its effectiveness in targeting and reducing energy consumption and promoting stakeholder awareness of energy and water usage.
  • Work with external suppliers/partners to review monthly utilisation and drive down carbon emissions across all areas, in conjunction with the adoption of renewable energy strategies.
  • Provide technical advice and assurance for energy-related works on campus, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Manage the Electricity, Water, and Gas budget, checking and authorising invoices, monitoring against targets, and preparing utility recharge invoices.
  • Collaborate with the University's Building Services Coordinators to pursue carbon and energy reduction initiatives.

Person Specification:

  • Experience in collating, analysing, and synthesising complex data, compiling reports.
  • Experience in creating and implementing energy/water and carbon reduction strategies, policies, and action plans.
  • In-depth technical knowledge of energy/water/carbon reduction policies and related legislation.
  • Ability to set priorities and manage the progress of own work, contractors, consultants, and in-house trades staff.
  • Sound knowledge, understanding, and working experience of sustainability-related statutory legislation and relevant industry codes of practice.
