About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Haematologist to join our team at University Hospital Lewisham (UHL). As a key member of our Haematology department, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the development of our Haemato-Oncology, General Haematology, and Laboratory Haematology services.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive Haematology services to patients, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of haematological disorders.
  • Work collaboratively with Consultant colleagues, junior doctors, nurses, laboratory staff, and other members of the multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care.
  • Take part in on-call rota on a 1:5 basis at UHL and provide cross-cover at other sites as required.
  • Contribute to the development of our Haemato-Oncology, General Haematology, and Laboratory Haematology services, including the implementation of new treatments and therapies.
  • Participate in clinical governance and audit activities to ensure high standards of patient care and service delivery.
  • Teach and train junior doctors, medical students, laboratory staff, and other healthcare professionals in Haematology.
Requirements
  • MBBS or equivalent qualification.
  • MRCP or equivalent qualification.
  • FRCPath or equivalent qualification.
  • Full and Specialist registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) or eligibility for registration within six months of interview.
  • Experience of all aspects of clinical and laboratory Haematology, with a broad base in Adult Haematology service delivery capabilities.
  • Specialist interest in Haemoglobinopathies.
  • Experience of NHS structures and governance.
