Role Overview
As an Interconnect Solutions Architect, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the interconnect strategies and security governance for BT Group. Your expertise will be essential in navigating complex network structures and ensuring robust security measures are integrated into our architectural decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist deployment teams in creating effective interconnect solutions and designs, providing insights on challenges encountered during new deployments and legacy migrations.
- Participate in stakeholder reviews addressing intricate interconnect challenges, managing the interdependencies among various applications and security domains.
- Offer technical counsel across BT regarding Interconnect Security Governance, including approvals and policy formulation for all corporate applications and firewall management.
- Identify potential shortcomings in requested interconnect requirements and propose alternative solutions when necessary.
- Collaborate with stakeholders and policy owners to ensure alignment in interconnect strategies, adapting to a dynamic environment while providing feedback on automation needs for interconnect tools.
- Lead the strategy and implementation of remote access controls for BT's critical networks and systems.
- Identify security vulnerabilities and develop mitigation strategies to minimize risks.
- Ensure that security measures are integrated into BT's architectural frameworks and influence the design and implementation of remote user access for both internal employees and third-party support teams.
- Oversee the security of the 21CN DCN Network, managing over 200 network management systems connected to it.
- Accountable for auditing and rectifying user access provisions within the 21CN framework.
- Work closely with the CIS and Technology Identity provisioning teams on the architecture and delivery of user access provisioning systems.
Qualifications and Skills
Essential:
- Proven experience in connecting diverse technologies, networks, systems, and applications.
- Comprehensive understanding of end-to-end system security assessments, from user access to server compliance.
- Knowledge of access control policies and the design of roles and responsibilities in a technical context.
- Strong technical background in large-scale network and IT environments.
- Ability to articulate technical requirements clearly to a varied audience with different levels of technical expertise.
- Experience in making informed technical decisions.
Desirable:
- In-depth knowledge of BT Networks and the application of security controls within these frameworks.
- Membership in a relevant security or technology professional organization, holding certifications such as CISSP, CISM, M.IISP, or CRISC.
- Demonstrated analytical skills to thoroughly understand technical risks and implement effective mitigation solutions.
- Strong customer-facing capabilities and efficient problem-solving skills in an enterprise context.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team or independently with minimal supervision.
- Effective time management skills.
