We are seeking a highly skilled Senior CFD/Simulation Engineer to join our team at Wärtsilä. As a key member of our Methods, Tools, and Processes team, you will be responsible for leading the Computer Fluid Dynamics (CFD)/simulation function within the business.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure timely analytical support to development programs.
- Develop and roll-out approved, validated methods and software tools.
- Identify, select, and acquire necessary resources (e.g., hardware and software) and champion coherent business cases for investment.
- Develop the necessary skills base, including supporting recruitment and training activities.
- Comply with Export Control requirements.
- Manage time and organizational skills effectively.
- Develop knowledge of product specifications and integration within the wider team.
- Work collaboratively with the Engineering and WDSL teams.
- Mentor junior team members.
- Continuously developing and improving the customer value proposition of shaftline products through enhanced engineering processes.
- Developing and influencing thought leadership within the business on CFD/simulation capability and knowledge-based tools development.
- Providing expert technical support and coaching to other teams within the business.
- Actively promoting Wärtsilä's QEHS objectives.
- Performing other duties as required to meet business objectives.
- Ensuring self and team members develop and maintain world-leading skills and competencies.
- Applying planning and risk management processes to ensure development objectives are met.
- Raising the CFD/simulation technology and capability profile of the business.
- Ensuring compliance with specific codes and adhering to the Engineering BMS and company BMS.
- Collaborating with Systems and Design teams to address CFD requirements.
- Recording changes according to the BMS.
- Liaising with project stakeholders, internal and external.
- Mentoring junior staff members.
- Working harmoniously with other company functions.
- Maintaining compliance with relevant data control requirements.
- BEng (Hons) in Mechanical, Electrical, Naval, Chemical, Aerospace, or other Engineering or Scientific disciplines (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computing).
- CEng or working towards.
- Working experience in the field of Engineering, especially Mechanical, Electrical, Maritime. Other relevant industry experience will be considered.
- Mid-Senior Level position.
- Eligibility for SC level clearance.
