Activus Recruitment is on the lookout for a proficient Metal Fabrication Specialist to become a vital part of our client's operations.


This role entails executing metal joining and surface restoration tasks, primarily focused on the maintenance and refurbishment of drilling equipment.

As a crucial member of a dynamic team, your responsibilities will encompass a variety of tasks, from operating machinery to preparing equipment for delivery, ensuring that all customer needs are met effectively.

The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of metalworking techniques and safety standards, demonstrating the ability to work independently while maintaining exceptional quality in all assignments.

Adherence to company health, safety, environment, and quality (HSEQ) policies is essential to promote a secure and sustainable workplace.

Experience with drilling tools and related equipment will be considered a significant advantage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute welding operations utilizing MIG and stick welding methods, as well as electric and gas cutting techniques.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on drilling tools, including inspection and reinstallation of components.
  • Conduct re-tipping of drill bits to ensure optimal performance.
  • Fabricate and restore drilling tool accessories.
  • Maintain and repair drilling equipment and components.
  • Implement surface restoration processes to enhance the durability of worn parts.
  • Interpret technical drawings and specifications to apply appropriate welding methods.
  • Ensure workshop machinery is well-maintained for safety and efficiency.
  • Operate forklifts as necessary for material handling.
  • Uphold safety protocols and best practices to maintain a tidy and secure working environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to support various projects and foster a positive team dynamic.

Skills and Experience:

  • At least 3 years of experience in metal fabrication and surface restoration, ideally in an industrial setting.
  • Skilled in multiple welding techniques (MIG and stick) and knowledgeable about surface restoration methods.
  • Familiarity with drilling tools and accessories is preferred.
  • Competence in using hand tools and overhead cranes.
  • Forklift certification is a plus.
  • Ability to work autonomously to achieve company goals.
  • Strong attention to detail and dedication to quality workmanship.
  • Excellent problem-solving capabilities and the ability to address challenges as they arise.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, emphasizing collaboration.
  • A valid UK Driving License is required.
