Job Overview:
We are seeking adaptable and dependable Casual School Support Assistants to join our team of on-call staff in Oxfordshire.
This zero-hour contract role is ideal for individuals who desire flexible working hours and have a commitment to assisting students and educational staff.
As a School Support Assistant, you will provide vital assistance across various functions within the educational setting, including classroom support, administrative duties, and general assistance tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
Classroom Assistance:
Support educators with classroom management and lesson preparation.
Provide individualized or small group support to students as directed by the educator.
Supervise students during non-instructional periods such as breaks and lunchtime.
Administrative Support:
Assist the school office with administrative responsibilities such as filing, photocopying, and managing student records.
Handle phone inquiries and assist parents, students, and visitors.
Help prepare and distribute school communications and notices.
General Responsibilities:
Assist in setting up and organizing classrooms, halls, and other learning environments.
Support the organization and supervision of school events, excursions, and activities.
Help maintain school resources and supplies.
Student Welfare:
Ensure the safety and well-being of students at all times.
Administer basic first aid when necessary (training will be provided if required).
Report any concerns regarding student welfare to the designated safeguarding lead.
Flexibility and Adaptability:
Be available to work on short notice, covering staff absences and providing support as needed.
Adapt to various roles and responsibilities depending on the school's requirements on any given day.
Demonstrate a willingness to work across different departments and support multiple functions within the school.
Qualifications:
Experience working with children or in an educational environment is preferred.
Basic administrative and IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
Desirable:
First aid certification or willingness to undertake training.
Previous experience in a similar role.
Knowledge of educational policies and procedures.
