As part of our ongoing efforts, we are seeking a Site Ecologist to join our team, focusing on ecological management and compliance within our construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Offer practical support and guidance to operational teams on ecological requirements, ensuring adherence to project timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Identify and implement cost-effective solutions to ecological challenges encountered during construction.
- Collaborate with design teams, clients, and stakeholders to ensure ecological considerations are integrated into project planning.
- Deliver ecological consultancy services, including conducting surveys, designing mitigation strategies, and providing on-site support.
- Support initiatives aimed at achieving Biodiversity Net Gain.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement in ecological practices on-site, promoting solutions that assist construction teams.
Candidate Profile
The Site Ecologist will report to the Head of Sustainability: Natural Environment and project leads, undertaking the following activities:
- Provide expert advice and site support to ensure compliance with ecological legislation.
- Develop and implement ecological management plans tailored to project needs.
- Build and maintain relationships with regulators, clients, design teams, and internal stakeholders.
- Ensure the company’s environmental management system aligns with evolving standards and legislation.
- Investigate and document ecological incidents as they arise.
- Conduct habitat suitability assessments and protected species surveys.
Essential Qualifications
- In-depth knowledge of ecological legislation relevant to development.
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of environmental management in construction.
- Full UK driving license with the ability to travel as required.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- CIEEM Membership.
- Experience with large-scale infrastructure projects.
Desirable Attributes
- Possession of at least one protected species survey license.
