Work Experience Placement - Engineering

Duration: 4 Days

Location: London Heathrow

Placement Dates: 4-day placements between January-March 2025

Our engineering teams focus on the behind-the-scene activity. You can expect to hear from our colleagues on procedures such as an engine change, a structural repair or a complex aircraft inspection. You will also be getting involved in workshops and activities to give you a taste of what it is like to work in Engineering for a global airline. Apply now for a 4-day placement between January and March

  1. W/C 27th January
  2. W/C 24th February
  3. W/C 24th March

Once the vacancy has closed, you will receive a form asking you to select which of the above weeks you can attend the work experience, and your application will be screened against those who have provided the same availability for the week/weeks you select.

We can provide the training and help you develop your skills and knowledge, but you need to have that get up and go, positive attitude that we're looking for in the airline industry.

When we're looking at applications for Work Experience, we want to see these qualities come through in your answers:

  • Professional and positive attitude
  • Passionate about engineering, the airline and our business
  • Good communication skills
  • Strong organisation and prioritization

What's in it for you?

Our Inspire Student Ambassador Programme invites students who have completed Work Experience Placements at British Airways to apply for the Ambassador role and further develop their confidence, work readiness and employability skills.

After completing a summer training course, our ambassadors represent us at school activities and British Airways events. p>

With many of our former work experience students going on to progress to the ambassador programme and then to full time employment with us, it's the natural next step in your dream aviation career journey

Eligibility Criteria:

To apply for work experience, you must be:

  • Year 10/S4 or above
  • Have a valid passport
  • In full-time education in school or college (not university)

You can live anywhere in the UK to apply for work experience; Please ensure if you are successful in your application, that you are willing to travel to London Heathrow for the duration of your placement.

Application Process:

You can apply for this placement through the British Airways careers website. Please ensure that you have completed the pre-learning project on Speedbird-Z and attach the required project to your application under the 'supporting files' tab.

Important Note: You cannot complete more than one work experience placement.
