Job Title: Animal Care Assistant

We are partnering with a Local Authority in Waltham Forest to assist with the appointment of an Animal Care Assistant on a 3-month contract, with a high likelihood of extension at the client's discretion.

Job Summary:

As an Animal Care Assistant, you will be responsible for ensuring the health and well-being of dogs in our care, while also maintaining the cleanliness of our kennels and being aware of reportable or communicable diseases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the health and well-being of dogs in our care
  • Maintain the cleanliness of our kennels
  • Be aware of reportable or communicable diseases
  • Transport dogs safely and humanely
  • Deal with members of the public and potential confrontations
  • Report any defects in vehicles or equipment
  • Work a shift pattern that may include evenings and weekends, with flexibility to change shifts according to service requirements

Requirements:

  • Driving license and own transport
  • Experience working in kennels in all weather conditions
  • Experience handling aggressive and dangerous dogs
  • Working knowledge of the Animal Welfare Act and the Dangerous Dogs Act
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision

Important Notes:

  • You should be available to start immediately or at short notice
  • You should have the right to work in the UK
