Position Overview
Chelston Hall Surgery is seeking to appoint a dedicated General Practitioner (Salaried) for a commitment of 4-6 sessions per week. Our practice is a large, progressive GMS training facility operating across two locations, actively involved in the education of GPs, medical students, nurses, paramedics, and international doctors. We take pride in our collaborative, multi-disciplinary approach to patient care and are affiliated with a prominent university, with one of our partners serving as an Associate Dean for GP trainees in the region.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will integrate into our existing team, undertaking a comprehensive range of services, including:
- Duty sessions and triage management
- Clinical management of a personal patient list
The remuneration for this role will range from £10,000 to £11,500, contingent upon the responsibilities undertaken. Our team comprises Advanced Nurse Practitioners, clinical pharmacists, Emergency Care Practitioners, salaried GPs, and six GP partners. We welcome candidates who are eager to engage in the operational aspects of the practice and have a keen interest in quality enhancement initiatives.
About Our Practice
Our partners are engaged in various non-clinical roles, including training, education, research, mentoring, and Quality Improvement Projects. A dedicated partner oversees an alcohol and drug liaison service weekly, collaborating with another GP and allied healthcare professionals.
We utilize an EMIS clinical system in conjunction with neighboring practices, facilitating integrated care for Extended Access. Our practice is open to innovative strategies to enhance capacity and meet demand, having successfully implemented an e-Consult service in the region.
We prioritize collaboration among our clinical staff, scheduling a dedicated 20-minute break for discussions during morning sessions. Weekly clinical meetings and a monthly educational gathering are integral to our practice culture.
Indemnity coverage is provided through a group scheme with a recognized provider. We offer a standard BMA model contract, which includes six weeks of annual leave, one week of study leave, and participation in the NHS pension scheme.
Job Responsibilities
The post-holder will work collaboratively with other clinicians and practice staff to deliver high-quality general practice care to a diverse patient population. Responsibilities include:
- Effective communication with all staff members
- Conducting telephone, face-to-face, and video consultations, as well as patient triage
- Managing on-call duties and home visits for palliative and complex care patients
- Overseeing a patient list and managing daily administrative tasks
- Demonstrating interest and experience in leadership and research
- Engaging in Quality Improvement projects, teaching, and training (desirable)
- Performing invasive procedures such as joint injections, implants, and coils (desirable and in high demand)
