Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced teaching assistant to join our team at Long-term Teachers Ltd. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience supporting students with challenging behaviour in a specialist environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support teachers in the classroom to ensure a smooth and effective learning environment.
  • Work with children 1:1 or deliver sessions with small groups of students, providing individualized support and guidance.
  • Manage classroom resources, including materials and equipment, to ensure a well-organized and efficient learning space.
  • Accompany students on trips and visits, providing a safe and supportive environment.
  • Have lunch with students who struggle socially, promoting social skills and relationships.
  • Manage heightened behaviours and keep students safe, using de-escalation techniques and crisis management strategies.
  • Engage in activities such as playing board games, making displays, and celebrating student success.
  • Participate in therapy sessions or reflect on difficult periods, providing emotional support and guidance.

Requirements

  • Previous experience supporting students with challenging behaviour in a specialist environment.
  • Confidence in using a nurturing approach to support students.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate with teachers and other staff members.
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
