SEND Tutor for Specialized Education

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated SEND Tutor to provide personalized educational support to a student with intricate needs who is currently unable to participate in conventional schooling.

The Role

We are in search of a motivating tutor to assist a young individual facing challenges such as PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) and other related needs. Many students with SEND have faced difficulties in engaging with their studies.

Our focus is on helping pupils who have struggled to remain in the classroom, those who experience anxiety about attending school, or whose requirements are not adequately met within the standard educational framework.

As a SEND Tutor, your responsibilities will include designing, planning, and delivering tailored one-on-one lessons that incorporate engaging experiences to facilitate learning and address educational gaps, ultimately enhancing the student's academic performance.

You may possess prior experience as a tutor or educator, or have worked with children in a supportive, therapeutic manner.

Your primary goal will be to assist the student in reconnecting with their education, re-establishing structure in their daily routine, continuing their academic progress, and facilitating their return to a mainstream or specialized educational setting.

This tutoring role will serve as a substitute for traditional schooling for the student and will begin as part-time, occurring during standard school hours on weekdays.

Prospero will collaborate closely with you to track the student's progress, requiring you to submit weekly updates.

Full-time/part-time - Part-time (minimum of 10 hours per week)
Minimum rate of pay - GBP30 per hour (negotiable)
Hours - Starting with 2 hours per day, with potential to extend to 6 hours (9am-3pm)
Qualifications and Experience Required:

Essential Qualifications:

QTS or equivalent
Relevant UK classroom teaching experience
Familiarity with SEMH, ODD, PDA, or similar SEND requirements
Creative, patient, and adaptable approach
Experience in managing challenging behavior and engaging disaffected students
To qualify for this position, candidates must:
Hold the right to work in the UK
Possess an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be prepared to apply for a new one
Provide two professional references related to child care.
