About the Position
What are we seeking?
Our Team Leaders are vital to the success of our maintenance teams. While prior experience in the rail industry is not a prerequisite, it is important to demonstrate transferable skills. The ideal candidate should possess:
- Experience in coordinating and supervising safe and efficient work delivery.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Familiarity with discipline-specific maintenance, inspection, faulting, and renewal techniques.
- Understanding of relevant standards, procedures, and guidelines.
- Strong leadership qualities with a clear vision.
Preferred Qualifications
- Possession or pursuit of an NVQ level 2 or 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant field, or equivalent knowledge gained through practical experience.
- Ability and willingness to operate vehicles as required for business purposes.
This role requires flexibility for day, night, and weekend shifts, and is safety-critical, thus subject to drug and alcohol testing and medical evaluations.

- Shifts – Team Leader positions involve a rotating schedule of days, nights, and weekends.
- Outdoor Work - Team Leaders work outdoors in all weather conditions, so adaptability to varied environments is necessary.
- Safety Protocols - Job offers are contingent upon passing drug/alcohol tests, medical assessments, and BPSS pre-employment screenings, including hearing and eyesight evaluations.
- Driving Requirements - A valid driving license (category B) is required for operating Network Rail vehicles as a Team Leader.
- Commuting - Applicants should be able to commute within a 60-minute radius of the job location.
