About the Role

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a highly skilled Senior Information Systems Developer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing transmission lines in the 69kV to 500kV range.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Design transmission lines, conduct cost analyses, develop design criteria, and route and site transmission lines.
  • Conductor Selection and Studies: Conduct conductor selection studies, shielding, grounding, and induction studies.
  • Vendor and Client Management: Work with vendors and clients to specify transmission line components.
  • Project Management: Direct a small project team.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Mentorship and Collaboration: Work with experienced engineers and mentor less experienced staff.
  • Client and Project Team Interaction: Work with a diverse client base and interact with the client and other project teams.
  • Travel and Proposals: Occasional travel for site visits and client meetings, and develop proposals and cost estimates for new work.
Requirements
  • Education: BS degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency with PLS-CADD software to review transmission line models.
  • Experience: 5 or more years of experience as a member of a project team in observing project schedules and budget constraints on diverse transmission assignments.
  • Skills and Knowledge: Knowledge to verify/review right of way requirements, conductor sags/tensions, transmission line plan and profile drawings, and construction documents. Familiarity with design codes and standards such as NESC, IEC, CSA, IEEE, ANSI, IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI 318.
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer License: Have a current PE license or the ability to acquire one within one year.
  • Proposal and Cost Estimate Development: Experience in developing engineering proposals and cost estimates.
  • Scheduling: Experience with scheduling.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency with any of the following programs: PLS-TOWER, SAG10, LPILE, MFAD, ArcGIS, CDEGS, AutoCAD, MicroStation.
