About the Role

We are looking for an Industrial Placement Software Engineer to work on a variety of technologies across the full software stack, contributing to the maintenance, modernization, and expansion of our product portfolio.

Key Responsibilities
  • As a member of a Scrum Team, you will be involved in product development across multiple products, supporting multiple customers.
  • You will work closely with experienced and multi-disciplined engineers to solve real problems.
  • You will receive ongoing support and training from experienced engineers to develop your software skills and gain practical experience.
  • You will gain experience across the full software lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, code, unit testing, and integration.
  • You will design and implement high-quality, robust code and support build, configuration control, and deployment.
  • You will work across a range of languages, including C++, JavaScript, and Kotlin.
  • You will work across the full stack of software, including platform, backend, frontend, and mobile.
Requirements
  • You are currently studying a relevant degree, such as Computer Science, Computing, or Software Engineering, with an expectation of an appropriate gap in studies to undertake a placement.
  • You have enthusiasm for writing code and a keen interest in software development.
  • You have experience developing software in one or more of the following languages: C++, C#, JavaScript, or Java/Kotlin.
Desirable Skills
  • You have knowledge and experience of the following: HTML, CSS, Bash/Shell scripting, front-end web development frameworks, Linux, client-server architecture.
  • You have experience of Agile software development, including Scrum, Kanban, JIRA, Confluence, and BitBucket.
  • You have knowledge and use of databases, such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, CouchDB.
  • You have experience using Git.
