Job Summary

CHC Helicopters is seeking a highly experienced and skilled Manager Crew Training to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the provision of the CHC UK Flight Training program, ensuring safe and compliant operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a training system that meets the company's operational needs, prioritizing safety.
  • Drive the implementation and adherence of CHC's harmonized flight operations standards and procedures.
  • Ensure a high standard of training and testing is maintained, adhering to OM Part A, B, C, D, F, and G.
  • Monitor and maintain flight crew training through regular observation and appraisal.
  • Arrange training programs for efficient use of aircraft, simulators, training facilities, and training manpower.
  • Set flight crew proficiency standards at the highest level, in close liaison with other MCTs and under the supervision of the Head of Flight Training.
  • Meet regulatory requirements for training, testing, and checking of flight crew.
  • Maintain active and positive dialogue with regulatory agencies to ensure acceptable standards and business continuity.
  • Develop and maintain the worldwide harmonized Company OM Part D.
  • Develop staff management capability through career development discussions and performance appraisals.
  • Ensure activities within the training department are carried out according to established SMS principles.
  • Oversee the coordination and implementation of QMS/LMS/EGS systems and associated pilot record management.
  • Work closely with outside resources for the delivery of training.
  • Maintain active and positive dialogue with customers and relevant 3rd party providers.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of relevant regulations.
  • Be willing to fly in their AOC to maintain recency.
  • Be an active member of the UK CHC Management Team and support other UK departments and functions as required.
  • Attend and participate in the Operational Review Board and other management meetings as required.
  • Be willing to travel internationally at times with short notice.

Requirements

  • Considerable aviation management experience, including time in the helicopter sector.
  • Effective leadership and management skills, with the ability to mentor and drive a high-performing team.
  • Knowledge of local aviation legislation and standards.
  • Experience developing and delivering training programs.
  • Satisfactory record in conduct or management of air operations.
  • Satisfactory record in conduct or management of training and checking in relation to air operations.
  • Experience in setting up training systems/methodologies and procedures.
  • Experience with project-orientated working methods.
  • Excellent listening, verbal, and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Excellent collaborative problem-solving skills, with the ability to envision a system-wide solution.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to conduct research in course development and delivery concepts.
  • Ability to work under pressure to achieve and maintain pre-determined service levels.

Qualifications

  • Meet the requirements for UKCAA Crew Training post holder.
  • Must be IOGP compliant for Captain O&G operations.
  • Have a UK ATPL (H) with IR.
  • Significant trainer experience.
  • Valid type rating on a CHC UK aircraft type (preferred).
  • Valid TRE/SFE or TRI/SFI on CHC UK aircraft type (preferred).
