Environmental Sustainability Lead

Position Overview
As an Environmental Sustainability Lead, you will spearhead and facilitate customer engagement concerning sustainability from both product and service perspectives, in alignment with the global Professional Hygiene sustainability strategy and roadmaps. You will collaborate with various Professional Hygiene sustainability roles and Essity's global sustainability functions to leverage initiatives and ensure cohesion across categories and business units.
Reporting to the Senior Sustainability Manager, you will be part of the Product Management team. This role may require occasional travel (10-20% annually).
Key Responsibilities
- Enhance and implement operational methods and tools to support customer collaboration and proposals regarding sustainability topics. This includes managing tools for product carbon footprint and other sustainability data to fulfill customer requirements.
- Coordinate and mentor a network of regional sustainability representatives within the Professional Hygiene sales and marketing organization.
- Provide expert guidance in sustainability discussions with key customers.
- Contribute to the development of content for sustainability communications and events aimed at customers.
- Gather insights on regional and local sustainability needs from regional sustainability representatives to assist in prioritizing activities.
- Lead training and skill development initiatives for regional sustainability representatives.
Candidate Profile
To excel in this position, you must be an exceptional communicator capable of conveying knowledge and information effectively to colleagues while driving business outcomes within your area. You should be customer-focused and thrive in an international environment with stakeholders at various organizational levels. As this role requires a high degree of independence, we seek a self-motivated individual with a strong internal drive.
- A University Degree or equivalent qualification.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in a sustainability role, preferably with a product focus and/or consultancy background.
- Proficiency in sustainability communication, product sustainability evaluations, and corporate reporting, including Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Greenhouse Gas Protocol, Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), and Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Experience with Science Based Targets and sustainable sourcing is advantageous.
- Familiarity with working in a matrix organization is a plus.
