Are you experienced in working with diverse Special Educational Needs (SEN) and possess a background in education or private tutoring? At Ackerman Pierce Ltd, we collaborate closely with local authorities, mainstream educational institutions, and SEN teams to provide qualified and skilled tutors for young individuals who are currently not engaged in conventional education.
Your role will involve supporting students with special educational and complex needs, which may include:
- Autism
- ADHD
- Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD)
- Speech and Language difficulties
- Mental and emotional challenges, including trauma-induced behavior, social anxiety, and low self-esteem
This position will be ongoing until the student is successfully placed in an appropriate educational setting, at which point we will prepare you for your next assignment.

Roles, Responsibilities, and Person Specification:As a SEND 1:1 Tutor, you will:
- Be available during school hours for contracts ranging from 2 to 15 hours per week
- Preferably hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS/PGCE), though other recognized teaching qualifications and non-qualified teachers will be considered
- Have a background in teaching core subjects such as English, Maths, Science, or SEN classes from KS1 to KS5
- Demonstrate the ability to prepare and deliver tailored curriculum using various teaching methodologies
- Exhibit an adaptable, patient, and compassionate approach to working with students with SEND and complex needs
- Prepare learning materials and deliver lessons that cater to the needs of students with SEND
- Provide emotional and physical support to encourage individual development
- Contribute to a supportive and enriching environment where each day presents new challenges and rewards
- Assess and monitor students' progress and provide feedback to parents and other professionals
- Maintain reliability and consistency with effective communication skills
- Be willing to engage in a variety of indoor and outdoor educational activities
