About the Role

CHEC Community Health and Eyecare is seeking a skilled Theatre Practitioner to join our team in providing exceptional patient care in our ophthalmic surgical centres. As a Theatre Practitioner, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality patient care, participating in preoperative assessment, diagnostics testing, and theatre scrub under AfPP good practice guidance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish a compassionate environment by providing support to patients, friends, and families
  • Prepare clinical areas for clinical activities daily
  • Assist surgeons in the delivery of ophthalmic care
  • Admission and discharge of patients on theatre days
  • Participate in departmental audits
  • Pro-active and keen to learn and have a passion to deliver quality care
  • Have effective listening, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Thrives in a team environment

Requirements

  • Previous theatre experience is required. Ophthalmic scrub experience is preferred but not essential as full training is available for suitably qualified RGNs / ODPs with at least 2 years post qualification clinical experience in a secondary care setting or similar.
  • Evidence of relevant professional development, clinically, preferably evidenced by certification RN with valid NMC Registration / ODP with valid HCPC Registration
  • Up-to-date knowledge in area of practice
  • Proficient in the use of a PC, including the use of software and systems
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Passion for delivering first-rate patient safety and care
