Senior Planning Lawyer

Harborough District Council is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Planning Lawyer to join its Legal Services team. As a key member of the team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the Council's activities are conducted lawfully and transparently.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver high-quality legal advice to support the Council's planning activities
  • Represent the Council in tribunals and courts, particularly in planning matters
  • Draft and advise on reports for Cabinet, Council Committees, and other meetings
  • Attend planning committee meetings as the Council's legal adviser
  • Lead and manage the delivery of legal services in planning matters
Requirements:
  • Several years post-qualification experience in planning law, including s.106 agreements, planning appeals, and enforcement
  • Proven experience in the public sector or in private practice
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and provide training and support to other officers
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
