Job Title: Team Leader

At Saur EUROPE, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Team Leader to join our team. As a Team Leader, you will be responsible for driving operational excellence by improving the reliability and efficiency of our wastewater treatment assets.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage health, safety, and environmental standards in a food and beverage environment to meet NSI and customer standards.
  • Own and report on HSE, operational, and maintenance KPIs.
  • Directly manage operators, ensuring required training programs are in place for their technical and professional development.
  • Provide visible leadership on HSE issues at all levels within the client organization and NSI.
  • Ensure compliance with EA permits for discharge to watercourses and consent to discharge to sewers.
  • Control costs and productivity of operational staff and subcontractors in accordance with client budgets, NSI procedures, and purchase orders.
  • Prepare financial documentation, such as purchase orders, for subsequent approval by the Operations or Regional Manager.
  • Control and manage hire equipment on-site.
  • Analyze process risk within the context of long-term contracts and manage to minimize.
  • Identify improvement opportunities on the plant, working with internal and external parties to reduce risk through plant improvement projects.
  • Assume personal ownership of higher-risk non-routine activities within the ETP.
  • Build recognition with the client for operational excellence and efficiency.
  • Develop strong relationships with key customer personnel, including HSE, utilities, site managers, engineers, and team leaders.
  • Recognize improvements or gaps in the operation of the ETP plant and, where authority allows, implement improvements.
  • Seek to develop and implement optimization projects.
  • Provide support to the Site Manager and liaise directly with the Planning Manager and Asset Care Coordinator to devise realistic and timely planning for completion of key operational activities, including statutory requirements.
  • Manage ETP operations to ensure cost-effective treatment facilities are maintained and organized, by training and developing the ETP team.
  • Develop and manage operational procedures and basic competency training for operations technicians.
  • Manage day-to-day issues for operators, including welfare, conduct, behavior training, and development.
  • Carry out personal development reviews and agree personal performance plans in accordance with Company procedures.
  • Support the development of the 'NSI' culture of ownership, involvement, and accountability for operational excellence.
  • Manage multiple subcontractors for project/upgrade works, including arranging for quotations and planning in works.
  • Develop SOPs, RAMS, CoSHH, and other documentation related to the safe and effective operation of the ETP.
Requirements:
  • Operational leadership experience within an industrial setting.
  • Technical knowledge of biological wastewater treatment.
  • A detailed working knowledge of water/wastewater and sludge treatment plants.
  • Experience of leading all aspects of a team of operations technicians.
  • Experience of directing teams and organizing subcontractors.
  • Leadership and other practical hands-on delivery.
  • Self-management on critical process plant.
  • Working to strict HSE systems with a high level of personal accountability.
  • Operational problem-solving and diagnostics (using technical literature).
  • Safety Passport/IOSHH/NEBOSHH (desired).
  • Training in Quality, Environmental, Health, and Safety systems.
What We Offer:
  • A competitive salary between £36,000 and £40,000 per year, depending on your professional experience.
  • Bonus up to 10%.
  • Hours of work: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
  • Holidays: 25 days + 8 statutory.
  • Probationary Period: 6 months.
  • Pension: Can join immediately or auto-enrolled after 3 months - Employee 4.5% and Employer 4.5% via salary sacrifice.
  • Eligible to join Private Healthcare after successfully completing probation.
  • Enrolled in Group Income Protection and Death in Service (4 x basic salary) upon commencement of employment.
  • Notice: 1 week during probation, increasing to 1 month thereafter.
