About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Social Care Officer to join our Operational Adult Safeguarding Team at Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council.
Job Summary
The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting enquiries, providing support to vulnerable adults, and advocating for their rights and dignity.
Main Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough investigations into situations where abuse has occurred or is at risk of occurring.
- Develop and implement holistic safeguarding plans for victims of abuse, based on their desired outcomes.
- Provide high-quality services to individuals at risk of abuse or neglect, ensuring their safety and well-being.
- Advocate for the rights and dignity of those you support, working collaboratively with the team and other stakeholders.
- Work with vulnerable adults and carers to achieve their ambitions, helping them to maintain their independence.
- Provide a service that flexibly meets the needs of service users within budgetary constraints.
- Have knowledge and understanding of relevant legislative and regulatory frameworks, including safeguarding and the needs of vulnerable adults.
- Undertake specific duties and responsibilities determined by the line manager to enable the team to achieve its goals and objectives.
- Work with the line manager to ensure day-to-day functioning of the team in operational matters.
- Work with managers and other staff members to share and promote good practice and work co-operatively to ensure consistency in working practices.
Requirements
- Degree in Social Work, Dip SW, CQSW or equivalent.
- Experience of at least six months in an Adult Social Care environment.
