About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Head of Year to join our pastoral team, focusing on Key Stage 4 (Years 10-11). This is an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of young people during their crucial GCSE years.

This school is a large, popular secondary school located in Redcar, North Yorkshire. The school is committed to providing an excellent education and fostering a supportive environment for our students to thrive.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of form tutors to ensure high-quality pastoral care for all students in the year group
  • Monitor and support student progress, behaviour and attendance, with a focus on GCSE preparation and performance
  • Implement and oversee effective intervention strategies for students requiring additional support
  • Liaise with parents, teachers, and external agencies to address student needs
  • Organise and lead year group assemblies, events, and activities
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of school policies and procedures
  • Promote a positive school culture and ethos among students and staff
  • Support students in making informed decisions about their post-16 options
Qualifications and Experience
  • Proven track record of successful pastoral leadership or be a TA looking for the next step in their career
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organisational and administrative abilities
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
