About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Housekeeper to join our team at Medway NHS Foundation Trust. As a Housekeeper, you will play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of our wards and departments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out cleaning duties safely and effectively, adhering to NHS National Standards.
  • Perform housekeeping and/or Hostess duties as required by Team Leaders.
  • Ensure the safe disposal/packaging of waste, including Clinical Waste and Household Waste.
  • Prepare and deliver ward food trolleys for meal service.
  • Assist nursing staff during managed meal times with portioning and plating food from food trolleys at ward level.
  • Prepare and deliver ward stores and supplies to wards and departments.
  • Report details of faults and failures of electrical equipment/fabric of the building to Team Leader or Ward Manager.
  • Complete all working schedules and any other relevant paperwork accurately within given timelines where applicable.
  • Responsible for safe/secure/hygienic storage of various stocks at ward/department level, including cleaning chemicals, consumables, dry/refrigerated food stuffs, and equipment.
Person Specification
  • NVQ level 1 in Support Services or equivalent level of working experience.
  • A good knowledge of customer care.
  • Knowledge of cleaning practices and infection control regulations.
  • Knowledge of food service/catering.
  • Ability to work on our own or part of a team.
  • Experience in cleaning and/or catering food service.
