Role Overview:

MLK Search is partnering with a brand new, specialist SEMH provision to appoint a confident, dynamic, and resilient Assistant Head to the Senior Leadership Team. The ideal candidate will inspire and motivate staff, ensuring students make excellent progress in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of SEMH strategies to drive student progress and achievement.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Leadership Team to shape the school's vision and direction.
  • Motivate and support staff to deliver high-quality teaching and learning.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including parents, carers, and external partners.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure the school's smooth operation.
  • Take on a portion of the teaching timetable, where required, to support the school's growth and development.

Requirements:

  • Outstanding leadership and management skills, with experience in a similar environment.
  • Expertise in SEN and Ofsted requirements, with a proven track record of driving school improvement.
  • Experience in motivating staff and pupils, using a person-centred approach.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build long-standing relationships.
  • Commitment to working with pupils with SEMH and additional needs, such as trauma, attachment, and challenging behaviours.
