Electrical Engineer Job Introduction

We are currently recruiting for an Electrical Engineer to work within the Engineering Department at JM Selection. The role of Electrical Contracts Engineer is to produce electrical designs for the application of products, including schematic/wiring diagrams of varying complexity.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop electrical contracts, including CT/VT designs, electrical interlocking designs, auto changeover designs, and control (trip/close) designs.
  • Liaise directly with Manufacturing and Quality team members on issues relating to drawings.
  • Assist in the production of contract job packs and other Manufacturing and Quality deliverables as required to meet on-time delivery schedules.
  • Provide engineering support and assistance to customers and internal departments.
Requirements:
  • Qualified to HNC level in an Electrical Engineering discipline.
  • Strong attitude and willingness to make a difference and support other team members.
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude to meet deadlines and work schedules.
  • Disciplined and enthusiastic approach, capturing the commitment of others.
  • Eye for detail and ability to work at a high degree of accuracy.
  • Influencing and negotiating skills.
  • Detail-oriented with the skill set to resolve problems.
  • Ability to demonstrate a thorough understanding of drafting and design practices and theories.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Ability to prioritize and plan effectively.
  • Good IT skills in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD systems, preferably AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Knowledge of electrical protection systems would be an advantage.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Understanding of engineering drawings and manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry switchgear standards.
  • A minimum of 3 years of working within the switchgear industry.
  • Experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
