Job Summary:

MRD Recruitment is actively seeking a skilled Procurement Specialist to join our team on a permanent basis. This role offers a hybrid working model and will report into the Head of Procurement.

The successful Procurement Specialist will be responsible for the delivery of quality goods and services within the required timelines, while demonstrating value for money and satisfying all regulatory compliance obligations. Our client is looking for a Procurement Specialist who is passionate about negotiations and is driven by cost reductions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing procurement strategies through engaging relevant stakeholders and awarding contracts to support the business that will achieve best value for the business, including partnering with suppliers to maximize group leverage possibilities.
  • Responsibility for a range of material and equipment commodities, including valves, electrical, mechanical, piping bulks, and rotating equipment.
  • Development of procurement strategies for all engineered material and equipment, and where applicable, stores stock, including critical, high-value, complex equipment that will achieve cost reduction value and benefit to the business.
  • Ensuring security of supply for material and equipment to the correct technical specification, safely, and on schedule to meet operational requirements.
  • Leading negotiations with suppliers to secure best commercial terms based on agreed specifications and demand to ensure best value for money.
  • Ability to review and assist in detailed cost submissions and challenge cost submissions to ensure final account valuations match the contract intent, when required; and negotiating claims and application of liabilities following dispute on service provision.

Key Skills/Qualifications:

  • Significant previous purchasing, commercial, or contractual experience in a large, complex engineering environment.
  • Expert, advanced negotiation skills and techniques with a deep understanding of cost drivers on contracts in order to demonstrate transparency and overall value.
  • A self-starter with excellent communication skills, comfortable with interactions between engineers, planners, project managers, procurement specialists, and suppliers.
  • A good working knowledge and skills of MS Office tools, including Excel and Word.
  • MCIPS qualified or equivalent chartered membership.
