About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Payroll Manager to join our Finance Senior Leadership team at Steris Corporation. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for leading the payroll solutions in alignment with our business strategies and ensuring that all payroll activity is effective and in line with performance standards.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Drive the operational delivery of weekly and monthly end-to-end Payroll services within a complex business with multiple Terms & Conditions.
  2. Creation of Payroll Service Standards and measurable KPIs for payroll response times and monthly payroll accuracy levels.
  3. Manage a Payroll administration team to deliver the required level of service for all transactions relating to the administration of pension payroll products for all Steris Companies.
  4. Completion of Statutory Reporting - Payroll Year End HMRC Reporting - including P11D, PSA, P60 - Gender Pay Gap Reporting.
  5. Management of Pension Administration within the payroll system.
  6. Integrating the payroll of any future company acquisitions.
  7. Audit and reconcile payroll registers, validate accuracy and completion of data prior to transmission.
  8. Monitoring of a Payroll system, ensuring full compliance with UK statutory payroll requirements, T&Cs and business processes.
  9. Establish policies, procedures and controls to ensure tax and Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) compliance.
  10. Driving efficiencies within the payroll department including implementing new systems and improving the existing processes.
  11. Ensure all processes are fit for purpose with robust controls in place and compliance with all internal policy and external regulations. Escalate risks and issues to Financial Controller.
  12. Critically review and analyse current payroll processes in order to provide recommendations and solutions to HR and Finance for opportunities to streamline and further automate existing processes.
  13. Act as point of escalation regarding advice and support in aspects relating to Payroll activity to customers at all levels, both internal and external.
  14. Support the annual financial audit process.
  15. Operating as a member of the finance management team, including attending management meetings.
About You

We are looking for a highly experienced and skilled Payroll Manager who has a proven track record of managing complex and diverse in-house payrolls with a team of payroll coordinators. You will have a strong attention to detail and excellent numerical and problem-solving skills. You will also have experience in delivering payroll projects, system changes, and legislation updates.

You will be a recognised payroll expert with a brilliant knowledge of PAYE and NI legislative requirements and will be an integral part of the Finance Leadership Team and trusted Subject Matter Expert to internal customers and stakeholders.

You will need to have significant experience working in a high volume transactional environment supporting HR and Finance processes and a passion for continuous improvement.
