Role Overview
This role is for a Senior Operations Team Leader at a Refuse Transfer Station.
- Your standard working schedule will be from Tuesday to Saturday, with some flexibility to meet operational needs.
- From Tuesday to Friday, you will assist the Site Supervisor in overseeing daily site operations, managing contractors and visitors, and stepping in for Site Operatives as necessary. (Currently supervising a team of 5 Operatives)
- You will receive training and certification to operate heavy machinery, including loading shovels, forklifts, and 360-degree swing shovels.
- Enjoy 28 days of holiday (pro-rata), increasing to 33 days after five years of service.
Key Responsibilities
In this position, you will be responsible for:
- Reporting to the Area Supervisor, managing the daily operations of a busy Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) / Transfer Station.
- Overseeing the operation and routine maintenance of mobile plant equipment.
- Maximizing recycling efforts and minimizing landfill usage.
- Ensuring compliance with the permit-to-work system.
- Coordinating the booking of contractor loads exiting the site.
- Traveling for training and to provide staff coverage at other locations as needed.
- Performing any other reasonable duties as requested.
Required Qualifications
- A comprehensive understanding of mobile plant operations and related equipment used in Waste Management and Recycling.
- Certification for mobile plant operation is preferred, although training may be provided.
- Familiarity with safe waste handling and recycling practices is advantageous.
- Previous experience in a similar capacity is beneficial.
- Willingness to work overtime and flexibility is essential, as operations run throughout the week, including all public holidays.
