About the Role

We are seeking a highly experienced and skilled Lead Engineer to join our team at Linxon. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating all engineering activities for medium-voltage and high-voltage substation projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Leadership: Provide technical leadership and coordination for all engineering activities, ensuring that projects are executed efficiently and cost-effectively in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.
  • Engineering Management: Manage and lead all engineering activities, both in-house and outsourced, during the proposal, design, and construction stages of substation projects.
  • Proposal Support: Support proposal efforts by introducing and promoting innovation, cost-saving ideas, and value-added solutions to the overall system design concept.
  • On-Site Assessment: Conduct on-site assessments and evaluations of existing equipment, steel structures, foundations, etc., in brown field substation projects.
  • Sub-Contractor Management: Provide expertise and support to the proposal and project teams in validating sub-contractor bids and negotiating sub-contracts for electrical substation projects.
  • Bid Package Development: Conform bid packages with customer project documents, including reviewing customer RFPs/RFQs and Linxon proposals to ensure conformance with the bid package.
  • Risk Management: Identify and develop mitigation strategies for identified risks during construction and installation.
  • Cost Recommendations: Provide cost recommendations to the proposal team based on bid review analysis.
  • Project Execution: Prepare, update, and support the project execution of engineering activities in the schedule, emphasizing on-time delivery, quality of deliverables, and project costs.
  • Design Development: Develop design criteria and document deliverables lists for projects.
  • Design Review: Perform technical, cost savings, and constructability reviews of design packages from internal engineering, outsourced sub-contractor engineering, and equipment factories.
  • Equipment Specifications: Generate equipment specifications, monitor vendor technical compliance, and witness factory acceptance testing.
Requirements
  • Experience: Minimum 12 to 15 years of substation engineering experience.
  • Knowledge: Strong knowledge of substation design disciplines, including primary, secondary, and civils.
  • Leadership: Experience in engineering leadership and preparation/management of SLD, layout, sections, primary design & calculations, grounding & lightning design, steel design inputs, transformers, converters/rectifiers, HV & MV Switchgear systems, auxiliary power AC & DC systems, power cables, RFQ, BOQ, SCF, DSLP, earthing system, busbar sizing, cable engineering, secondary engineering, protection, and control.
  • Desirable Qualifications: Chartered Engineer (through IET) status or working towards it, experience as a Contractor Design Approval Engineer (CDAE) / Lead Contractor Design Approval Engineer (LCDAE), as defined by National Grid's NG/ET/SR188 procedure.
  • Education: BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering discipline or equivalent.
  • Skills and Behaviors: Fluency in English, both written and spoken, additional languages are a plus; skilled communicator who can interface with numerous external and internal parties at all levels in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Personal Qualities: Self-motivated and proactive, quality-focused with strong attention to detail, strong and effective communicator, collaborative team player, effective interpersonal skills, assertive, decisive, confident, resilient, and flexible achiever, willingness to learn and deliver to timelines.
