Job Title: Registered Night Nurse

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Night Nurse to join our client's team and provide exceptional care to our elderly residents in their nursing home.

Job Summary

As a Registered Night Nurse, you will be responsible for overseeing the well-being of the residents during night shifts, ensuring their comfort and addressing any medical needs that may arise, including general nursing, respite, palliative, and dementia care.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular rounds to monitor the health and safety of elderly residents throughout the night.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians, including those for palliative and dementia care.
  • Document residents' medical histories and maintain accurate and up-to-date care plans, particularly for those with dementia needs.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and provide immediate care and support, with a focus on palliative care and dementia support.
  • Collaborate with the daytime nursing staff to ensure continuity of care, especially for residents with complex needs.
  • Communicate effectively with residents and their families to address any concerns or provide updates on their condition, with empathy and understanding for those in need of palliative or dementia care.
  • Adhere to all relevant regulations and best practices in elder care and nursing, particularly those related to dementia care and palliative support.
Requirements
  • Registered Nurse qualification (RGN) and valid UK NMC Pin.
  • Experience in elderly care or nursing home settings, with a focus on palliative/end of life care.
  • Proficiency in developing and implementing care plans.
  • Strong medication administration skills, including the specialized requirements for palliative and dementia care.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, particularly important when providing support for families of residents with dementia or palliative care needs.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused in high-pressure situations, especially during palliative care and in emergency situations related to dementia care.
