Children's Occupational Therapy Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Children's Occupational Therapy Technician to join our team at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to children and young people with physical and sensory, communication and interaction, and cognition and learning needs.
Key Responsibilities- To work closely with our Occupational Therapists to assess, implement, and evaluate occupational therapy interventions for children and young people.
- To provide skilled and evidence-based care, adhering to agreed policies and procedures, and extending agreed competencies.
- To use routine outcome measures and a goal-based approach, collaboratively with children and young people and their families, to inform treatment and clinical care.
- To escalate concerns and clinical outcomes of care to registered therapists.
- To adapt practice to meet individual patient/client circumstances.
- To identify and manage risks through incident reporting when appropriate.
We are looking for an individual with:
- Training to NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
- Additional CPD courses relevant to the role, equivalent to Diploma level.
- Functional Skills at Level 2 (Literacy and numeracy/GCSE grade A-C or equivalent in English and Maths).
- Working knowledge of typical child development.
- Understanding of SEN/D process.
- Awareness of professional issues and recent developments in the NHS and Primary Care, including Clinical Governance, NICE, and Essence of Care.
- Knowledge of up-to-date clinical practice.
- Experience delivering therapeutic programmes.
- Experience working as a healthcare worker.
