The Breast Service at Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH) is seeking qualified candidates for a full-time (10PA) Consultant Breast Surgeon role.

Our Breast Unit serves the Clyde Sector residents of NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. While the primary location is at RAH, there will also be responsibilities at the associated Inverclyde Royal Hospital and Vale of Leven Hospital.

The successful applicant will collaborate with three Consultant Breast Surgeons as part of a robust multidisciplinary team. You will play a vital role in advancing the Breast Service and enhancing the research objectives of the Department. All facets of Breast Surgery are well-established within the Clyde Sector, and you are expected to possess the requisite skills to work closely with colleagues, contribute to, and develop the operations of the Breast Unit.

Full registration with a license to practice from the GMC is mandatory.

Applicants trained in the UK should provide evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within six months of confirmed entry on the GMC Specialist Register from the date of the interview.

Alternatively, candidates should hold a CESR / CESR (CP).

Applications from doctors with suitable specialist training and experience who are not listed on the GMC Specialist Register may be considered for a Locum Consultant position (up to 12 months) if no permanent Consultant appointment is made. While in locum employment, an application for CESR / CESR (CP) and entry onto the Specialist Register can be pursued.

Candidates must also demonstrate subspecialty training across the full spectrum of breast surgery. Experience in Oncoplastic and Reconstructive Surgery will be regarded as advantageous.
