Main Responsibilities- Clinical Responsibilities
- To assist women and birthing people with activities of daily living, promoting independence and dignity.
- To demonstrate, encourage, and assist women and birthing people in undertaking therapeutic activities within agreed care plans and under the guidance of registered practitioners.
- To monitor and record women and birthing people's clinical observations, escalating appropriately to a registered midwife as required.
- To assist with women and birthing people's nutritional needs, including eating, drinking, menu selection, meal delivery, and special diets according to individual needs.
- To maintain up-to-date, comprehensive, and accurate records in accordance with current legal requirements, both written and digital.
- To assist in the admission and discharge of women and birthing people, including necessary risk assessments.
- To escort women and birthing people and families to other departments within the hospital as required.
- To assist the midwife in preparing the birthing environment and providing support to labouring women and birthing people under the supervision of the midwife.
- Person Specification
- Functional Skills Level 2 in Numeracy and Literacy or GCSEs Maths and English Grades A-C
- Care Certificate
- NVQ level 3 or equivalent in Health Care
- Significant experience within a care setting/environment
- Experience of working with women and birthing people
