About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Medication Management Lead to join our team at Newton Place Surgery. As a key member of our clinical team, you will play a vital role in optimizing medication use and improving patient safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Medication Optimization: Lead improvements to maximize safe, cost-effective best practice in prescribing to improve the quality of patient care.
  • Team Leadership: Provide leadership and support to the wider prescribing team, including undertaking appraisals, reviewing competencies, and ensuring adequate rota to support a full working team.
  • Medication Management: Implement medication changes and reconciliation with the support of the wider clinical team, and ensure that all major MHRA drug alerts are acted upon.
  • Training and Development: Deliver training and development to prescribing clerks to support improved coordination and effective administration within the surgery.
  • Leadership and Governance: Proactively participate in leadership to support the prescribing team and surgery, and ensure that all clinical teams are informed of important changes.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Minimum 5 GCSE A-C or equivalent, A level or Equivalent level 3 qualifications, and Prescription clerk or dispensary qualification.
  • Experience: Experience of working on EMIS web Clinical System, knowledge of current medicines management issues, and experience of working within a Primary or Secondary Care setting.
