Job Summary

The Trainee Practice Nurse will be an integral part of the healthcare team in General Practices across Islington, providing high-quality nursing care to practice populations and supporting qualified Practice Nurses in their daily tasks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to deliver patient care in line with the core values of the Islington Training Hub.
  • Provide backfill for qualified Practice Nurses and undertake the Practice Nurse GPN training Course.
  • Develop the necessary skills and competencies required to be a Practice Nurse, working within their level of competency at all times.
  • Contribute to the practices achieving its Quality Outcomes Framework Targets (QOF) and assist in routine tasks related to patient care under supervision.
  • Undertake additional duties as outlined in Appendix A, including maintaining and cleaning equipment, stocking clinical rooms, and ordering stock and vaccines.
Professional Responsibilities
  • Maintain own professional registration and attend all training arranged.
  • Keep up to date with allocated timetables and monitor the effectiveness of own clinical practice through discussion with clinical leads and peer review.
  • Contribute to the effectiveness of the team by reflecting on own and team activities and make suggestions on ways to improve and enhance the team's performance.
  • Work effectively with individuals in other agencies to meet patients' needs and effectively manage own time, workload, and resources.
