Job Title: Landscape and Forestry Officer

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Landscape and Forestry Officer to join our team at West Oxfordshire District Council. As a key member of our environmental service, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality landscape and green infrastructure advice to support the council's ambition for a sustainable future.

About the Role

This permanent position offers the flexibility of working within our offices at Witney and agile working, allowing you to balance your work and personal life. You will be responsible for providing expert advice on landscape and green infrastructure matters, including planning proposals and allocations and policies in the Local Plan.

You will work closely with various stakeholders, including the Cotswold National Landscape Board, developers, planning agents, and local communities, to create sustainable and positive outcomes across the area. Your forward-thinking and practical solutions-based approach will be essential in shaping our environment for the benefit of the local community and beyond.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality landscape and green infrastructure advice on planning proposals and allocations and policies in the Local Plan.
  • Work with stakeholders to create sustainable and positive outcomes across the area.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key partners, including the Cotswold National Landscape Board and local communities.
  • Contribute to the development of policies and strategies to support the council's ambition for a sustainable future.
Requirements
  • Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field or equivalent experience of 2 years in a related landscape role.
  • High level of knowledge and understanding of all aspects of landscape and green infrastructure.
  • Experience of continuously improving services and developing products to meet customer needs.
  • Good communication and negotiation skills.
