Position Overview: Instructor in Hairdressing and Barbering

Are you eager to advance your career and share your hairdressing expertise with aspiring hairdressers and barbers?

Activate Learning is seeking a skilled hairdresser/hair stylist/barber to join our hairdressing and barbering instructional team on a part-time basis, with up to 27 hours per week, hours flexible. This is a fixed-term position with the possibility of extension.

We are in search of enthusiastic, motivated, and creative individuals who can inspire our hairdressing and barbering students, ensuring they have a remarkable educational experience.

With your strong subject knowledge and practical skills, you will collaborate with our existing team of dedicated and passionate educators to design and deliver meaningful practical and theoretical lessons up to level 3, while also engaging in curriculum development to adapt to the evolving needs of the industry.

What is required to be a successful Instructor in Hairdressing and Barbering at Activate Learning?

We seek individuals who can serve as role models for our students, ensuring they graduate not only with their professional qualifications but also with the skills necessary to excel in the workforce. A genuine passion for working with and nurturing young talent is essential.

While prior teaching experience and qualifications are advantageous, they are not mandatory. As long as you possess the qualifications to teach hairdressing and exhibit the qualities of an inspiring educator, we can provide the necessary training, development, and support to prepare you for teaching in the further education sector.

You will need a minimum Level 3 qualification in Hairdressing, along with recent experience and current knowledge of the hairdressing industry to help cultivate the skills of future professionals.

• Level 3 or higher qualification in Hairdressing is essential
• Experience as a hairdresser/barber/hair stylist is essential
• A teaching qualification and experience in education are desirable but not required
